Summary:
Olive-green above, paler below, scales with whitish centres; posterior margin of gill cover and sometimes pectoral-fin base red; dorsal fin white with orange mottling and a reddish margin; caudal fin with orange to reddish mottling; pectoral fin whitish, yellowish or orange.

Meristic features: Dorsal fin X, 9; Anal fin III, 8; Pectoral fin 13; Lateral line scales 46-47. Body moderately deep, 35.7-38.5% of SL, dorsal profile above eye straight, cheek naked; inner surface of pectoral-fin base scaled or naked; 6 scale rows (including small scales beneath dorsal fin base) between lateral line and base of middle dorsal fin spine. |
