Summary:
A lavender-pink wrasse suffused with yellow above, shading to pale yellow or white below, with a solid purple stripe along the back (and belly in males), rows of blue lines breaking up into dashes and dots along the side, and yellow dorsal and anal fins with blue markings. Females are lavender pink becoming pale yellow or white below, lacking bottom blue stripe.

Distribution

Recorded in Australia from the northern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, and reefs in the Coral Sea. Elsewhere, the species occurs in the tropical, south-west Pacific (Coral Sea, New Caledonia and Loyalty Islands).
