Summary:
A pale greyish goby with a dusky dot on scales along the nape and back, about five indistinct dusky blotches along the side, a dusky tear-shaped blotch below the eye, and a curved darker blotch on the pectoral-fin base. The dorsal fins are pinkish-grey with dark spots and streaks and a small black spot on the 6th spine, the caudal fin is pinkish-grey below, paler above with dark streaks and spots, and the anal fin is greyish with a whitish margin.

Distribution

Cape York, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical Indo-west Pacific. Inhabits muddy bottoms in protected bays and tidal estuaries.

Features

Dorsal fin VI + I,11-13; Anal fin I, 12-13; Pectoral fin 20-24; Segmented caudal rays 7/7–9/8; branched caudal rays 6/7–9/8; Lateral scales 41-58.  
Upper jaw teeth in single row; fleshy tongue rounded; upper lip slightly indented but not deeply constricted at premaxillary symphysis; no ocular cirrus or cornification; no spots on gular membrane beneath preopercle or anterior process of quadrate; nape fully scaled to membranous crest; all scales including trunk cycloid; prepelvic area scaled; first dorsal-fin spines not elongate, reaching to second to fourth second dorsal-fin element.

Colour
