Summary:
A greyish damsel with darker scale margins, a yellow belly, pelvic fins and often anal fin, a black spot on the upper pectoral-fin base and broad dark margins on the dorsal and anal fins.

Distribution

Offshore reefs of Western Australia - Scott Reef, WA (14°03'S) to Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea (12°15'S) and northern Great  Barrier Reef, QLD, Ashmore Reef (10°05'S) and Osprey Reef (13°52'S) Coral Sea, to Lady Elliot Island (24°06'S) QLD, also Christmas Island, Indian Ocean; tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific.

Inhabits reef lagoons, passes and outer reef slopes in depths of 5-45 m.
