Summary:
A bluish-grey or geryish-green chromis overlain with a yellow hue anteriorly, a yellow pectoral-fin base, and dark brown to blackish caudal-fin lobes.

Distribution |
Offshore reefs of north Western Australia, Ashmore and Cartier reefs in the Timor Sea, and the northern Great Barrier Reef and reefs in the Coral Sea, Queensland; also Christmas Island in the eastern Indian Ocean. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, east-Indo-west Pacific: Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Palau and Pohnpei. Individuals or small groups inhabit outer reef slopes and drop-offs at depths to 48 m. |

Etymology |
