Distribution

Northwest Shelf, Western Australia, to off Weipa in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in Papua New Guinea and West Papua, Inodnesia.

Etymology

The species is named russelli after Dr Barry C. Russell, (former) Director of Research and Collections at NTM.

Lepidotrigla russelli del Cerro & Lloris 1995, The Beagle 12:  178. Type locality: north-east of Goulburn Island, Northern Territory, depth 55 m.
