Summary:
A pale sandy-brown whiting becoming whitish below, with an indistinct silvery mid-lateral band, slightly darker scale margins forming a slight meshwork pattern above the lateral line, a blackish tip on the first dorsal fin and dark outer lobes on the caudal fin. The Mud Whiting lacks a dark spot at the pectoral-fin base.
