Summary:
A whiting with a series of brown oblique blotches along the midside overlayoing a silvery midlateral stripe, smaller oblique bars along the upper side, and a black spot on the pectoral-fin base.

Distribution

Mandurah, Western Australia, around the tropical north to Hinchinbrook Island, Queensland, and possibly south to Mackay. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, west Pacific (New Guinea and Indonesia).
Inhabits inshore muddy and silty areas.

Features

Dorsal fin XII + 19-21; Anal fin II, 18-20; Vertebrae 34-36. Swim bladder with four anterolateral extensions.

Fisheries

Of minor commercial importance.
