Distribution

Recorded in Australia from off Nowra, New South Wales, to off NW Tasmania, and off the Northwest Shelf, Western Australia to the Arafura Sea, Northern Territory. The Ragged Bigscale is widespread in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans at tropical and subtropical latitudes.

Species Citation

Scopelus mizolepis Günther, 1878, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist. 5 2(2, 22, 28): 185. Type locality: south of New Guinea off Aru Island, Challenger station 191, depth 800 fathoms [5°41´S, 134°04´E].
