Off Port Hedland, Western Australia, to about Bowen, Queensland. Elsewhere the species is widespread in the Indo-west-central Pacific. Forms schools in coastal and oceanic waters, sometimes entering large atoll lagoons or deep, clear bays. |
Fisheries |
Of minor commercial importance, and an important food source for large pelagic fishes such as tunas. |
