Distribution |
Recorded in Australia from offshore reefs of north Western Australia, Evans Shoal, Northern Territory, and reefs in the Coral Sea, Queensland (14°–22°S); also Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the eastern Indian Ocean. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, west-central Pacific. Inhabits deep reefs. |
Fisheries |
Taken in deep water fisheries, and targeted in some areas of its distribution range. The species is considered to be an excellent food fish. |
