Summary:
An undescribed pinkish to reddish pink deep-seabat with fine greyish to black spots forming vermiculate or crescentic patterns on the upper surface, and red pectoral, caudal and dorsal fins with a black margin. The species has an almost rounded disc, strongly pointed tubercles on the dorsal surface and body margins, and tiny spinules between the tubercles.

In Australia, this species been confused with Halieutaea stellata.

Distribution

Off Carnarvon, Western Australia, to off Cape Croker, Northern Territory, and seamounts in the Coral Sea between southern Queensland and New Caledonia; also northern New Caledonia and northern New Zealand.

Colour

Reddish with a vermiculate pattern on dorsal surface.
