Summary:

A large silvery-blue morwong tinged with yellow on the sides, bright blue and yellow lines around the eyes, a single elongate pectoral-fin ray, and thick, rubbery lips.

Distribution	Endemic to the southern half of Australia, from off Wooli, New South Wales, to Lancelin, Western Australia, including northern Tasmania. Inhabits offshore rocky reefs.
Species Citation	Sciaenoides valenciennesi Whitley 1937, Records of the Australian Museum 20(1): 21 (based on Western Australian syntypes of Cheilodactylus carponemus Cuvier & Valenciennes, 1830). Type locality: Western Australia (King George Sound).
