Summary:
This small cryptic dottyback is rarely seen. It varies in colour from uniform yellow to brown, with a pinkish snout and yellow caudal fin in brown individuals.

Distribution

Scott Reef, Western Australia, and the northern Great Barrier Reef to the Capricorn Group, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical east-Indo-west Pacific.
Inhabits crevices, boulder and rubble areas on inshore coral reef slopes to 30 m.

Features

Dorsal fin I, 23-24; Anal fin I-II, 13-15; Pectoral fin 16-18; a single lateral-line scale; scales in lateral series 30-33.
