Summary:
A silvery brown silverbiddy, bright silver below, with indistinct dark stripes along the scale rows above and 4-6 rows immediately below lateral line, and yellow anal and pelvic fins. The species may also have indistinct narrow dark bars on the sides.

Widespread in the Indo-Pacific, from western India to Micronesia. Inhabits soft bottoms, and juveniles often occur in estuaries. |
Features |
Meristic features: Dorsal fin IX, 10; Anal fin III, 7; Pectoral fin 15-16; Lateral line 35-38; Gill rakers 4-5 + 8-9. Body deep, compressed; head profile almost straight. Dorsal and anal-fin with strong spines; second dorsal fin spine longer than the third; second anal-fin spine robust, almost equal to length of anal-fin base; caudal fin short, deeply forked, tips broadly rounded. |
