Distribution

South Muiron Island to north of Bigge Island and Rowley Shoals, Western Australia, Cartier Reef and Ashmore Reef in the Timor Sea,, and the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland and reefs in the Coral Sea; also Christmas Island in the eastern Indian Ocean, and Middleton Reef in the Lord Howe Island Province in the Tasman Sea. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical Indo-west-central Pacific.
