Distribution

Arafura Sea off Melville Island, Northern Territory, to the Coral Sea off north-eastern Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the Western Pacific: Indonesia and the Philippines.

Species Citation

Neobythites (Watasea) purus Smith & Radcliffe in Radcliffe 1913, Proceedings of the United States National Museum 44(1948): 141, pl. 7(3). Type locality: Near Destacado Island between Samar and Masbate, 12°12'35"N, 124°02'48"E, Philippines, Albatross station 5392, depth 135 fathoms.
