Distribution

Houtman Abrolhos, Western Australia, around the tropical north to Port Hacking, New South Wales, also reefs in the Coral Sea, Elizabeth Reef and Lord Howe Island in the Tasman Sea, and Christmas Island in the eastern Indian Ocean. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific.
