Widespread in the Indo-west Pacific, from Mozambique throughout south-east Asia to Australia, Hong Kong and New Guinea. Inhabits estuaries - often among mangroves. |
Etymology |
The species is named ferox for fierce, as it has been known to bite collectors. |
