Distribution	Off Bawley Point, near Ulladulla, New South Wales, and north of Exmouth, Western Australia. Elsewhere the species occurs in the east-Indo-west Pacific.
Features	Dorsal fin 6; Anal fin 4; Vertebrae 16. Eye large, 4.6-5.3 in HL; width of illicial cavity equal to eye diameter; tubercules on lateral surface of the body simple.
Etymology	The specific name brevipes is from the Latin brevis (= short) and pes (= foot), possibly in reference to the 'small' pelvic fins.
Species Citation	Coelophrys brevipes Smith & Radcliffe in Radcliffe 1912, Proceedings of the United States National Museum 42(1896): 213, pls 25 (fig. 2), 26 (fig. 2), 27 (fig. 2). Type locality: Gulf of Boni, 3°32'40"S, 120°31'30"E, Sulawesi, Indonesia, Albatross station 5658, depth 510 fathoms.
