Distribution

Endemic to eastern Australia, from east of Dunk Island, Queensland, to off Newcastle, New South Wales, in depths of 67-333 m.

Features

Six canine teeth in outer row at front of lower jaw, palatines with 1–2 rows of teeth, and predorsal scales extending far forward on the nape to the posterior portion of the interorbital region.

Etymology

The species is named for Alastair (Al) Graham, Collection Manager at CSIRO Marine Research, Hobart, in honour of his longstanding efforts in building and maintaining Australian ichthyological collections and helpful co-operation with taxonomic research.
