Summary:
An elongate dark brown to blackish cardinalfish with a large rhomboidal-shaped tail, and three whitish to faintly reddish areas between the dark bars.

Distribution

Recorded in the Australian EEZ from Holmes Reef in the Coral Sea off Queensland in depths of 10-35m. Inhabits poorly lit areas in caves.

Pseudamia zonata Randall, Lachner & Fraser 1985, Indo-Pacific Fishes 6: 17, pl. 1(d); figs 5-6. Type locality: cave off Tambuli Beach Hotel, east side of Mactan Island, Cebu, Philippines.
