Summary:
A greenish parrotfish with pink scale margins, and a large bluish-green patch on the side of the snout that runs under the chin. Females are dark brown with a dark reddish to orange-brown head, and sometimes five indistinct irregular pale bars on the body.

Distribution

Occurs at the Australian territories of Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island in the eastern Indian Ocean.

Features

Dorsal fin IX, 10; Anal fin III, 9; Pectoral fin 13-15; Median predorsal scales 3-5; Cheek scale rows 3.
Females with 0-2 conical teeth on side of dental plate, terminal males with 1-2 teeth in both jaws; caudal fin truncate in females, somewhat emarginate in males.
