Summary:
A greenish parrotfish with pink scale margins, and a large bluish-green patch on the side of the snout that runs under the chin. Females are dark brown with a dark reddish to orange-brown head, and sometimes five indistinct irregular pale bars on the body.

Dorsal fin IX, 10; Anal fin III, 9; Pectoral fin 13-15; Median predorsal scales 3-5; Cheek scale rows 3. Females with 0-2 conical teeth on side of dental plate, terminal males with 1-2 teeth in both jaws; caudal fin truncate in females, somewhat emarginate in males. |
