Stripehead Goby, Trimma capostriatum (Goren 1981)

Other Names: Spotted Redlined Pygmygoby

Summary:

A pygmy goby with 5-6 pale orange to red stripes on head with dark blue interspaces, distinct pale yellowish-orange, orange or reddish body oval to round spots scattered on the body, orange stripes on the snout, a uniformly dark lower lip, and the lower surface of the head with a black curved stripe and a median black bar connecting to the lower lip.

Previously considered to be a synonym of Trimma striatum which also oocurs in Australia.

Distribution	Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, and Ashmore Reef and Swains Reefs in the Coral Sea. Elsewhere the species is known from Indonesia (West Papua), Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Palau and New Caledonia. Inhabits sandy and muddy areas near middle and outer reefs on the Great Barrier Reef.
