Summary:
A mosaic-patterned dragonet with a large black ocellus between 3rd and 4th dorsal-fin spines, a barred pattern below the cheek, dark saddles along the body, and dark markings on the anal fin.

Distribution |
Houtman Abrolhos Islands, Western Australia, to at least One Tree Island, Queensland, and possibly south to Moreton Bay. Elsewhere the species occurs in the western-central Pacific. Inhabits sandy, rubble and muddy areas among mangroves in brackish estuaries, and coral reef lagoons to a depth of 15 m. |
