Distribution

Northwest of Port Hedland, Western Australia, around the tropical north, to east of Cape Howe, New South Wales. Elsewhere the species occurs in the west Pacific.
Inhabits seamounts, ridges and knolls.

Species Citation

Scorpaena neglecta Temminck & Schlegel 1843, Pisces, in Siebold, Fauna Japonica (2-4): 43, Pl. 17 (fig. 4). Type locality: Nagasaki, Japan.
