Distribution

Macquarie Islan. Elsewhere the species is common in littoral zone of all sub-Antarctic islands. Inhabits shallow rocky areas, usually under rocks, in 0-5 m.

Feeding

Feeds on amphipods, mainly Gondogeneia antarctica

Biology

The species devotes a lot of time to parental care, and there is a long pelagic larval phase.
