Summary:
A stingfish with dark brown stripes along the rays of the inner surface of the pectoral fin, and no transverse dark bands on the caudal fin. The posterior lacrimal spine is relatively short and not bayonet-shaped.

Distribution

SE of Vulcan Shoal, Timor Sea, Western Australia (12°50′20″S, 124°22′27″E) in 153 m depth. Elsewhere the species occurs in the West Pacific - Japan, East China Sea, Taiwan, Philippines. 
Inhabits soft, sandy or muddy substrates on the continental shelf.
