Red Snout Emperor, Lethrinus reticulatus Valenciennes 1830
Summary:
An olive-grey to tan emperor, often with scattered irregular black blotches, a brown or olive head with an indistinct reddish band on the snout, and the upper edge of the operculum, pectoral-fin base sometimes the rear edge of the preoperculum red.

Distribution |
Northwest Shelf, Western Australia, to off Cape York, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the Indo-west Pacific: Mauritius, Chagos, west Thailand, Taiwan, the Ryukyu Islands, the Philippines and Northern Marianas to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Samoa. Inhabits shallow areas with soft substrates near coral reefs. |

Feeds on benthic invertebrates and small fishes. |
