Distribution

Northern and northeastern Australia, including the northern coast facing the Arafura Sea, and the northeastern coast ranging from the Torres Strait to Moreton Bay, Queensland.

Colour

Head and body grey to brown, mottled with greenish grey, or broadly orangish; blotch and band markings generally dark brown to black. In preserved specimens, head and body becoming uniformly creamy-white, dark markings retained.

Etymology

The species is named for Mr. Alastair Graham (CSIRO), for his great contributions to the Australian marine fish specimen collection and generous assistance in finding this new species.
