Black Large-scaled Grinner, Saurida umeyoshii Inoue & Nakabo 2006
Summary:
A grinner with a single row of distinct black spots along the upper margin of the caudal fin, entirely dark scale pockets below the lateral line in larger specimens, and a longitudinal row of dark blotches below the lateral line in smaller specimens.

North of the Monte Bello Islands, Western Australia. Elsewhere the species occurs in the West Pacific: Philippines, China, Taiwan & Japan. Inhabits soft sediment areas on the continental shelf. |

Etymology |
The species is named in honour of Umeyoshi Yamada, formerly of the Fisheries Agency of Seikai National Fisheries Research Institute, who first recognized this species as undescribed. |
