Distribution

A drowned reef 10 km north-west of Myrmidon Reef in the central Great Barrier Reef, and various localities with in the Coral Sea Marine Park, including Lihou Reef and the Willis Islets.

Similar Species

The species bears superficial resemblance to Chromis axillaris (Bennett 1831) and C. woodsi (Bruner and Arnam 1979) in having a mostly white, pearlescent body with black markings on the caudal peduncle but appears to differ from the latter two in the shape of the caudal peduncle marking.
