Distribution |
Southeastern Australia from off Newcastle, New South Wales, to southwest of Cape Bridgewater, Victoria, and off Tasmania. Elsewhere the species is circumglobal in southern waters. Adults are benthopelagic near the bottom, while larvae and juveniles are pelagic in near surface waters. |
Fisheries |
Occasionally taken as bycatch in commercial trawls. |
Etymology |
The species is named for Captain F. W. Hutton F.R.S, curator of the Canterbury Museum, New Zealand. |
