Distribution |
Known in Australia from Cape York to about Sydney, New South Wales. Elsewhere, widespread in the tropical Indo-Pacific from East Africa to the Galapagos Islands. Inhabits coral reefs, often in the surge zone. |

Meristic features: Dorsal fin 10-12; Anal fin 10-11. |
Feeding |
Feeds mostly on algaae, and also on a range of benthic invertebrates. |
