Summary:
A mottled greyish-brown goby with a series of oblique dark bars along the side, and yellowish dorsal, anal and caudal fins.
For many years, this species was known as Cryptocentroides insignis (Hoese 2015).

Distribution

North West Cape, Western Australia, to the Wessel Islands, Northern Territory. Elsewhere the species occurs in the east-Indo-west Pacific. Inhabits sand-rubble bottoms in brackish tide pools and mangrove areas.
