Genus Omegophora


Summary:
A temperate Australian genus with two species. Diagnotic characters include: body elongate, anteriorly bulky, rounded above and below; no ventrolateral skinfold; densely covered by small spines from mid-snout to caudal peduncle; lateral line usually faint, if apparent angled from top of head toward centre of caudal peduncle, without branches or 2nd lateral line; eye rather small, completely adnate, lower edge well above pectoral-fin base; chin not prominent; nostril with single small tentacle, slightly expanded distally; pectoral fin moderately small, somewhat bilobed.
