Genus Masturus


Summary:
A monotypic sunfish genus with a very deep oval-shaped body with the following characters: lips closing in rounded form; skin thick and leathery, covered with horny, rough textured denticles; clavus with distinct medial extension, remaining margin not scalloped; pectoral fin small, rounded, not fitting into shallow groove on side of body.
