Distribution

Off Port Macquarie, New South Wales, to  off Rottnest Island, Western Australia; also Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the eastern Indian Ocean. Elsewhere the species is widespread throughout the Indo-Pacific from off New Caledonia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Vanuatu and Chile.

Serrivomer bertini Bauchot-Boutin 1959, Dana Reports 48: 132. Type locality: north of New Zealand, ~1750m [12°02'S, 96°43'E].
