Distribution |
Rowley Shoals, Western Australia, Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea, and the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, and reefs in the Coral Sea; also at Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island. Elsewhere the species is widespread in the tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific. Inhabits caves and ledges on steep reef drop-offs, often forming large aggregations, but also in small groups. Individuals are often seen swimming upside-down. |
