A dark brown damselfish with a large white spot in the middle of the back, and a pale brown band across the forehead.

Distribution

Known in Australia from Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea, and No-name Reef, northern Great Barrier Reef to Lizard Island, Queensland. The species occurs elsewhere in the tropical west Pacific.
Inhabits sandy and silty areas near seagrass beds and coral outcrops on sheltered coastal reefs and in reef lagoons.
