Distribution

Off Christmas Island in the Australian EEZ. Elsewhere the species is circumglobal on the continental slope (except the eastern Pacific).

Species Citation

Bassobythites brunswigi Brauer 1906, Die Wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse der Deutschen Tiefsee-Expedition auf dem Dampfer "Valdivia" 1898–1899 15(1): 307, pl. 14 (fig. 7). Type locality: off Somalia, north-east coast of Africa, Indian Ocean [6°18'08"N, 49°32'05"E].
