Summary:
A pink to lavender tadpole-shaped snailfish with a pale stomach, peritoneum and orobranchial cavity, and the gill arches that bear gill rakers are also pale.

Features |
Vertebrae 11+ 35-36 = 46-47, Pectoral fin 37-38, radials 4 (3 + 1) upper three notched; Caudal fin 14 (2+5/7). Two pairs of well-developed pleural ribs. Hypural plate divided, a distinct parhypural suture present. Teeth with shoulders and sharp recurved points. Gill slit long, oblique, 11-12% SL; head 30-33%, preAnal length 45-50%, disc 13% SL. |

Etymology |
The species is named in honour of Dr. Catherine Ozouf-Costaz, MNHN Paris, for her pioneer caryotaxonomic studies of Antarctic nototheniod fiishes. |
