Scalloped Dealfish, Zu elongatus Heemstra & Kannemeyer 1984


Summary:
A silvery grey dealfish with indistinct bars along the sides and bright red fins. The epipelagic juveniles are silver with about six dark wavy bars along the side, and black and silver markings on the elongate fin-rays that resemble siphonophores.

Distribution

Lord Howe Rise in the Tasman Sea. Eslewhere the species occurs in the eastern Atlantic and Indo-west Pacific (South Africa to Japan and New Zealand).
