Distribution

SW of Scott Reef, Western Australia, depth 705 m. Elsewhere the species occurs in Japan and Taiwan. 

Remarks

The CO1 genetic sequence of tissue from the only known Australian specimen matched those of Symphurus hondoensis in Lee et. al (2017).
