Coral Sea, southeast of Herald Cay to south of Marion Reef, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs on the Chesterfield Plateau, New Caledonia. |
Etymology |
The specific name is from the Latin nigri- (= black) and frons (= forehead), in reference to the darkened areas on the head and anterior dorsal-fin rays. |
