Distribution

Off Jurien Bay to west of Cape Leveque, Western Australia (and possibly south to Perth), and the far northern Great Barrier Reef to Moreton Bay, Queensland.

Features

Dorsal fin 102–107; Anal fin 73-83; Caudal fin 8; Vertebrae 9 + 41-42 = 50-51; Midlateral line scales 68-76; Scales between midlateral line and dorsolateral line 10-13.

Fisheries

May be taken as bycatch in commercial fisheries.

Etymology

Presumably named for Allan Riverstone McCulloch, former Curator of Fishes of the Australian Museum, Sydney.

Cynoglossus maccullochi Norman 1926, Biological Results of the Fishing Experiments carried on by the F.I.S. Endeavour 1909-1914 5(5): 302, fig. 13. Type locality: 7-10 miles north-west of Hummocky Island, Queensland, 14-16 fathoms.
