Summary:
A tiny goby with yellowish-cream upper sides, a dark greyish to black or dark reddish band along lower body ending in an intense semi-circle on caudal-fin base, and small black dots on pectoral-fin base. 
Previously recorded in Australia as Eviota nigriventris.

Distribution

Recorded in Australia from Clerke Reef to Scott Reef, Western Australia, and from Tijou Reef to Escape Reef, Great Barrier Reef, Queensland. Found elsewhere in the tropical east-Indo-west Pacific.
Inhabits sheltered coral reefs, forming groups among branches of Acropora coral, in  depths of 2-31 m

Features

Meristic features: Dorsal fin VII, 9-10; Anal fin I, 8-9; Longitudinal scale series 23-24.
Sensory pore system lacking the PITO and IT pores and the AITO pore enlarged; pectoral-fin rays simple; spinous dorsal-fin elongate or filamentous in both sexes; genital papilla nonfimbriate; ctenoid scales except cycloid on breast, none on head, nape and pectoral fin base; separated pelvic fins, bases joins by thin membrane; well developed fifth pelvic ray; depth of body 3.5-5.1 in SL.
