About

Fishes of Australia provides information on the biodiversity, distribution, evolutionary relationships and biology of Australia’s amazing marine and freshwater fishes. You’ll find detailed information, images, videos, identification aids (including interactive and dichotomous keys), and links to other resources.

The website is an initiative of the fish researchers who work under the banner of OzFishNet, and was developed with funding provided by the Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS) of the Commonwealth Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.

Project partners include ABRS, Museum Victoria, CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research, the Australian Museum, the Queensland Museum, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, the Western Australian Museum, the South Australian Museum, Dr Gerald Allen (Conservation International), Rudie Kuiter, Ken Graham (NSW Fisheries) and other members of the OZFishNet community.

The website is hosted by Museums Victoria. For further information, please contact Dianne Bray ([email protected]) or Martin Gomon ([email protected]).
