Summary:
Pectoral fins with pale oblique cross band, a uniformly pale dorsal fin, and noticeable jaw teeth. The species has elongate pelvic fins that are inserted nearer to the anal-fin origin than to the pectoral-fin insertion, and reach well beyond the anal-fin origin.
Juveniles have a pair of short tapering barbels bearing a proximal flap-like appendage.
