Summary:
An iridescent blue to bluish-green damselfish with wavy stripes on the head, dusky vertical streaks on the scales, a dark 'earspot' at the top of the gill cover, and sometimes a yellowish tinge on the dorsal, anal and caudal fin tips.

Distribution |
Offshore reefs of north Western Australia, Hibernia Reef and Ashmore Reef in the Timor Sea, to Sydney, New South Wales, including reefs in the Coral Sea; also Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the eastern Indian Ocean, and the Lord Howe Province and Norfolk Island in the Tasman Sea. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific. Groups inhabit sandy areas in lagoons, around isolated patch reefs, coral heads, or rubble.. |
